KEN WILBER ON ENLIGHTENMENT IN THE MODERN AGE

I must confess that I do not know the proper definition for the term Enlightenment. The online Websters Dictionary defines Enlightenment a number of ways but there is one definition that Ken Wilber probably considers: a final blessed state marked by the absence of desire or suffering...

That probably defines at least one aspect of the term. I tend to think of Enlightenment as Moksha or the Liberation from the cycle of birth and death. Yet, even that definition I find somewhat lacking. I did, however, read a description of Liberation that I can wrap my arms around. It's from one of the Sutras (either Bhakti, Shiva or Yoga, I cannot recall) and it states:

"Liberation is freedom from the conditioned mind."

I love that. If I had to ask for just one thing in life that's what it would be. Then I could truly live my life without fear or illusion.

Until that day, I have Sadhana, which is a blessing in itself.
